On the heels of his award winning short film LOLLYGAG, Tij was selected for Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film ‘22 and as the 2023 Slamdance AGBO Fellow. He participated as a fellow in the 2023 Film at Lincoln Center Artists Academy and was most recently awarded an artist residency by the Provincetown Film Society.
Tij was raised in rural North Carolina where he passed his time making little cutie movies with friends and watching reruns of Desperate Housewives. He attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, graduating with a BFA in Drama and surprisingly little debt. He now lives in Harlem, NYC.
His dark sardonic short, LOLLYGAG, was an official selection at Slamdance, Champs-Élysées, Fantasia, Fantastic Fest, and Outfest, amongst other festivals. With support from the AGBO Fellowship, the UNCSA Artpreneur Grant and the OATM Emerging Artist Film Grant, Tij completed his second short film, NEPOTISM, BABY!, which had it’s world premiere at Tribeca ‘24.
With support from the Sundance Institute, Tij is currently in development on his debut feature with 2AM.
